Greek Orthodox Young Singers Chorus
On Tuesday, January 29, 2008, the newly formed Greek Orthodox Young Singers Chorus of the North Shore, under the direction of MBFGOCM Youth Choir Director Antonios Vatousios, appeared for the first time and sang the responses during the Great Vespers Service for the Feast of The Three Hierarchs at St. Vasilios Church in Peabody, MA. The group was comprised of 18 children and was joined by a combined senior choir. Metropolitan Methodios was so happy about the Youth Chorus and its potential that he invited them to the solea and thanked them in front of the congregation. The focus of this Youth Chorus will be to learn Byzantine style music, which can be found on www.hrmsmusic.com (click on the St. Vasilios link).
The group will sing again on March 16 at 5:30 p.m. during a Sunday of Orthodoxy Vespers Service at St. George Church in Lynn, MA and on March 24 at 7:00 p.m. during the Annunciation Vespers Service at the Annunciation Church in Newburyport, MA. They have a rehearsal scheduled for Sunday, March 9 at the Annunciation Church in Newburyport, MA. The Chorus also plans to sing one Sunday during the summer at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge, NH and at the 2008 MBFGOCM Conference in Haverhill, MA from November 7 to 9.
